On Nov. 1-2, 2017, BPALC members helped organize a symposium on the 100th anniversary of the 1917 October Revolution in Russia. Three world-renowned scholars of the Bolshevik Revolution and world communism who have spent much of their professional lives studying the topic gave well-attended talks at Bucknell on the human costs of the Revolution, its contribution to the spread of totalitarianism, and the responses it inspired among American and other Western intellectuals
